Robert Wolfe

Robert Dale “Bob” Wolfe, 76, of Reedsville, passed away at West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Robert was born in Morgantown on March 13, 1948, a son of the late Charles Henry Wolfe and Norma Edith (Hagedorn) Wolfe.

Bob loved his family and country. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was an avid sports fan. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and all WVU sports. If it wasn’t black and gold, it was blue and gold for him. He held season tickets for over 20 years. He knew all the stats on both the teams and players.

Upon his return from Vietnam, he received a degree in accounting and worked as a payroll clerk at the Blacksville #2 Mine. Bob then had an opportunity to work as a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service.

After retiring, he furthered his education and received a Board of Regents degree in social work, which he was very proud of. He then worked with drug rehabilitation programs, helping ones that needed assistance in obtaining a better life. He later continued his passion for helping others as a counselor for the VA substance abuse program.

Bob coached Little League for many years. He also had a creative side. He wrote many poems, one of which won a Golden Poet Award. He was faithful in attending Church at the Victory E.M.C in Reedsville.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Candy (Born) Wolfe; one daughter, Amanda Gail Wolfe and Dom Guillermo, of Morgantown; two sons, Brian Matthew Wolfe, of Tucson, Ariz., and Scott Michael Wolfe, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one stepdaughter, Stacey Matusky, of Morgantown; one stepson, Adam Newsome and wife, Emily, of Reedsville; one sister, Karen Webb, of Point of Rocks, Md.; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Hannah, Harley, Levi, Lauren, Emma, Ethan, Daniel and Philip; six great-grandchildren, Lily, Aaliyah, Peyton, Isabella, Lucas and Elijah; and many generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Wayne Wolfe, Harry Wolfe, Denis Wolfe, Donald Wolfe and Jack Wolfe; and three sisters, Vivian Pugh, Norma Wolfe and Shirley Cordwell.
