Molly Rebecca Markusic peacefully passed at the hospital in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by her family and friends on July 15, 2024.
She was born on April 27, 1972, in Morgantown, to George Anthony Markusic and Ann Thompson Markusic.
Molly was a loving daughter, a dedicated sister and a devoted aunt. She was also a witty and caring friend to many who enjoyed her razor-sharp sense of humor and her resilient outlook on life.
She never missed an opportunity to enjoy a niece or nephew’s birthday or celebrate a loved one’s special occasion. She was also a life-long learner who had an adventurous spirit that drove her to take on new challenges and experiences. In her early adult life, her adventures took her to Africa, across Europe and throughout Asia. She loved experiencing other cultures and traditions.
She attended St. Francis DeSales Catholic School and graduated in the class of 1990. She went on to study at West Virginia University and graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education, with a focus on special education. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta, where she began her career as an administrator managing a law firm. In 2001, she earned her Master of Business Administration at Georgia State University.
She is survived by her mother, Ann Markusic; her sisters, Tracy Rokas (Antonis) and Tiffany Fry; and her nephews and niece, Jackson Fry, 20, Sophia Rokas, 15, and Kostas Rokas, 13.
Friends and family will gather to honor and remember Molly Rebecca Markusic at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, from 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, S.T.D. as celebrant. Interment will take place at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
