Twirling aerialists, community arts coming to Morgantown

The Arts Council of Greater Morgantown is excited to present another First Friday for the Arts. From 6-9 p.m. Aug. 2, First Friday for the Arts will take visitors across numerous exhibition locations offering activities, demonstrations and live music free to enjoy.

Enjoy a live aerial performance, a live music performance, a hands-on activity and community arts at the following locations:

  • Andrew White Guitars,  at 198 Foundry Street, will present an exhibition of artisan Jamie Lester paired with live music. Lester is known for his sculptural creations and public art additions around Morgantown.
  • The Morgantown History Museum will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Don Knotts’ birthday and the Metropolitan Theatre with a feature exhibition.
  • The Monongalia Arts Center,  at 107 High Street, will present curated exhibitions “Mostly Pink” in the Benedum Gallery and “Fabric of Creativity” in the Davis Gallery.
  • The Morgantown Art Bar,  at 268 High Street, will present an exhibition from local artist Jenny Marsat. Marsat is from a culturally diverse background with a range of interests such as painting, ceramics and jewelry making. Her style channels raw and bright energy where color and texture are at the center of a naive esthetic. Marsat will also be presenting a kintsugi demonstration.
  • The Morgantown Art Party,  at 215 Walnut Street, will host a live aerial arts performance from Rise n Shine Fitness Studio. Join aerial students as they showcase twirling acts to pre-prepared soundtracks.
  • The Co-Op,  at 131 Pleasant Street, will showcase the works of the Morgantown Arts Association, a local membership organization that hosts various workshops and exhibitions at their permanent gallery location in the Mountaineer Mall.
  • Morgantown ReStored is a Main Street Morgantown initiative to revitalize vacant business fronts with art exhibitions. Explore the display of Fairmont State Students at 147 High Street and Betsy Spellman at 228 High Street while traversing the various galleries.
  • Silver Pennies Jewelry,  310 High Street, offers a live jewelry-making demo with handmade jewelry shopping options.
