Rashad Alton

Rashad Malika Alton, 21, was born on October 10, 2002, in Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, and was called home on July 11, 2024.

Rashad was the son of Ashley Moman-Carr, of Morgantown, the late Brandon Vann Alton, of Pittsburgh, and stepfather, Latrell Carr, of Morgantown.

Rashad was a graduate of Morgantown High, class of 2021. He loved basketball and was the MVP of all sports he participated in. He was in the process of starting his own car detailing business.

In addition to his parents, Ashley Moman-Carr and Latrell Carr, Rashad is survived by his siblings, Andre Moman, Nyssa Gracie Baker and Unique Alton; his soon-to-be nephew; his grandmother, Vickie McCray; his grandfather, Kenneth Baker; his godfather, Devon Madden; his aunts, LaVaughn Moman, Hilary Collier, Kenethia Baker and Natalie Alton; his uncles, Kevin Alton (Charis Alton), Stanley Alton, DeShawn Henderson (Yonna Henderson), Devon Peek; and a host of extended aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends.

Rashad was preceded in death by his father, Brandon Alton; grandparents, Renee and Stanley Alton; great-grandmother, Arlene Williams; great-uncle, Mark Williams; and uncle, Dontay Stanley.

Rashad was born with a smile on his face that would light up a room, and there was never a dull moment in the arms of his presence. He was a protector and touched everyone he met. Rashad was a rare breed who had an infectious aura from God and brought nothing but love. Rashad was a fly-smooth guy, just as conceited as his father, the life of the party, a comedian and an entertainer who loved to sing, doing karaoke to his favorite song, “Can We Talk?” Rashad loved to do the latest dance moves, trying to get his mom to do TikTok dances.

Friends and family will be received for Rashad’s homegoing at Kingdom EMC, 540 Fairmont Road, Westover, WV 26501, from 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Thomas officiating. Following the funeral service, cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home.
