Nashville singer-songwriter makes stop at The Village

The Village at Heritage Point held a special concert starring Nashville singer-songwriter, Kevin Major, earlier this month.

Major originally hails from Morgantown,  but moved 25 year ago to Nashville, Tenn., to hone his skills. He is best known for his storytelling that authentically weaves his heart and his home into his songs.

While in town for another show, Major planned a concert for the residents at The Village to visit his former high school English teacher,  Gwen Rosenbluth.

“What I remember from English class most of all is that all good stories have a beginning, middle and an end, and help set the stage with some background, have some conflict and tension, have some heart and make a point,” said Major. “This is also true in songwriting, plus you have to do it all in about three minutes or less. I am very grateful for what Mrs. Rosenbluth taught me at Morgantown High School and I was glad to share some of my songs with her and the residents at The Village.”

Major is still pursuing the elusive No. 1 hit as a songwriter in Nashville but stays connected to his Morgantown roots through songs about his hometown and state. Major’s well-received anthem “West by God Virginia” pays homage to his home state and its people, and now has over 30,000 streams on YouTube.

“I enjoy sharing my songs and stories with other people and the Morgantown community has always been very good to me,” said Major. “I like to give back when I can and know that music is often a big part of people’s lives, regardless of their age.”
