Christian Help to showcase its variety of community support services with public tours

Upon consulting with the community and discovering that many aren’t aware of the true expanse of its many services, local support hub Christian Help will host a series of open house tours on July 27 and Sept. 13. Through these events, the nonprofit will highlight the ways it is available to serve the community and can be supported by the community in turn.

Since 1975, Christian Help has strived to uplift individuals and families in need through a variety of services and programs that offer clothing, housewares, financial assistance, food, pet supplies, holiday meals and financial, nutritional and career coaching — all of which and more will be discussed during the upcoming open house events.

“From talking to various members of our community, just asking ‘What do you know about Christian Help?’ and the majority of answers were either ‘Not much,’ or the fact that we offer free clothes,” said event coordinator Jesse Vermette. “We decided it was a good idea if we had some open house tours so people could get more of an in-depth look at what we have to offer the community.”

Although these tours are a great opportunity for those interested in Christian Help’s assistance, they’re also intended as an educational event for Morgantown residents to learn about an organization making an impact in their neighborhood, potential volunteers to discover a new opportunity and preparation for those who might one day require the nonprofit’s services. Understanding the organization’s programs also provides attendees with knowledge to be shared with friends or family who could benefit from Christian Help’s aid.

“We’re hoping that people will realize everything that Christian Help has to offer for making a difference in the lives of our community members and neighbors who might be facing difficult times,” said Vermette.

Tours will be available from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Christian Help’s 219 Walnut Street location, and attendees are welcome to visit anytime during those hours for free tours lasting approximately 30 minutes. Staff members will guide guests through the expansive facility, showcasing its amenities, discussing its services and answering questions.

Going forward, the nonprofit hopes to hold tours quarterly.
