Twelfth Annual Golf FORE Life Tournament a success

Twenty-seven teams participated in West Virginians for Life’s 12th Annual Golf FORE Life Tournament  July 13  at the Preston Country Club in Kingwood. 

Winners of the challenges were Dave Sanders (Closest to the Pin), Chris Alasky (Longest Putt) and Rocky Starkey (Longest Drive). For their skills, Sanders won a discounted round of golf for four at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke; Alasky won a round of golf for four at Alpine Lake Resort; and  Starkey won was a round of golf for four at the Preston Country Club. 

The winner of the Putting Contest prior to the scheduled tee time was  Alasky, who  accepted a TopGolf $100 gift card. 

Each person on the first-place team, fielded by Trinity Assembly God, won a $100 Visa gift card. The foursome’s 55 was 17 under par. Team members were Steve and Scott Mohr, Verlin Porter and  Alasky. 

The second-place UniFirst team scored a 57, and each person on the team won $75 worth of merchandise each from the Preston Country Club Pro Shop. Teammates were John Cale, Chris Brady, Mark Westfall and  Starkey. 

Pound Town City Council took third-place. Their prize was $50 worth of merchandise each from the Preston Country Club Pro Shop. Players included Jim Hall, Brandon Tucker, Anthony Fata and JT Lewis. 

Winner of the 50/50 drawing was Alasky. 

The tournament raised approximately $12,000 for the West Virginians for Life Educational Trust Fund, a nonprofit charity. The organization wishes to thank Platinum Sponsors Trinity Assembly of God and Wassick Novelty Co. LLC, and Gold Sponsor Doug and Dana Leech.  Harry Green Chevy Nissan in Bridgeport   donated the car, and other prizes, for the hole-in-one challenge — which again eluded everyone.  

Golfers are invited to play in the 13th Annual Golf FORE Life at this same course next year. Watch at WVforLife.org for the 2025 date to be announced.
