Myron Seese, 73, of Hundred, W.Va., died at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, following an extended illness after an automobile accident on June 6, 2024.
He was born Oct. 1, 1950, in Harrison County, a son of the late Jack and Rhea Seese.
Myron retired in 2010. He was a teacher for 36 years, athletic director for 24 years and coach at Hundred High School. He began his teaching career at Wadestown Elementary School in Monongalia County where he was also the boys’ basketball coach. He also was an assistant football coach at Waynesburg (College) University for two years in the mid 80s. He was a graduate of Hundred High School, Fairmont State University and received a master’s degree from WVU. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity while a student at Fairmont State.
Myron was a member of Littleton Lodge No. 131, AF & AM, where he recently received his 50-year recognition. He was an avid Hundred High School Athletic Booster, as he was a huge supporter of WVU sports programs and Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He was a member, Sunday School teacher and trustee of Harmony Baptist Church in Burton, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathy Butcher Seese; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jason Sleeth, of Hundred, W.Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Brooke and Tony Davenport, of Mooresville, N.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Myra and Steve Stewart, of Stephens City, Va.; and four beloved grandchildren, Madison and Tyler Sleeth and Drae and Kalina Davenport; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Geraldine Ann Seese.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, W.Va., from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday with the funeral immediately following at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jason Sleeth and Pastor Linda Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery at Burton.
