Mon Health Primary Care highlights summer safety

Summer is in full swing and Mon Health Primary Care reminds patients of important summer safety tips to keep themselves healthy this summer.

“Summer safety falls nicely into what we do in Primary Care. A little bit of common sense and planning can go a long way

in keeping our patients healthy throughout the summer,” said Dr. Jason McNair, Mon Health Primary Care provider. “In our visits, we routinely talk about topics like adequate water intake, using sunscreen and instituting exercise responsibly, which becomes extremely important in the summer.”

The summer sun brings lots of fun for people of all ages, but with the extra outdoor time, additional precautions should be taken to minimize health risks that come along with increased activity.

“You may need to increase water consumption due to increased temperatures. Additionally, your regular exercise routines may need to be planned for a cooler part of the day or instituted in a different manner than it may have been in a cooler season,” said  McNair. “Lastly, when it comes to spending time in the sun, sunscreen should be worn for any outdoor activities to minimize risk of sunburn and later skin cancers.

“It’s also important to keep up with your routine health visits so you can discuss these topics and more with your primary care provider. We can help you examine your lifestyle and summer plans, and help you identify and take the necessary health and safety steps to enjoy your summer.”

Your primary care physician is the first line of defense in your medical care and often the first to diagnose a health problem. Enjoy what you love most this summer and be proactive about your health and safety by scheduling with your primary care provider.

Mon Health Primary Care is now accepting patients in Buckhannon, Core, Fairmont, Fellowsville, Grafton, Kingwood, Morgantown, Reedsville and Weston.
