Wellness Festival free family event Saturday

The  West Virginia Wellness Festival hosted by Forgiven Warrior is set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at  the Hazel and J.W. Ruby Community Center at Mylan Park.  

A  5K/1-mile Fun Run Race, sponsored by Cardinal Pediatrics, will start at 9:15 a.m., then the doors to the festival will open to the public. 

It’s not too late to sign up for the  Festival Competition or the 5K. Racers can register for the 5K at  the  event, and fitness competition registration closes  Thursday. 

There will be  89 exhibitors, including the West Vigrinia Junior College Mobile Nursing Lab, Pet Helpers pet adoption and interactive educational displays. 

A kids corner is sponsored by WVU Medicine Children’s and will feature  activities to keep children engaged and entertained all day. 

The schedule 

10 a.m. —  Festival doors open with music by  Lauren Starkey  

10:10 a.m. — 5K awards, main stage  

10:15 a.m. — Fitness Competition events begin; yoga class with &Yoga, activity tent  

10:20 a.m. — Storytime Yoga: Mindful Movement for Kids with Morgantown Public Library, kids corner  

11 a.m. — Thriving Families: A family approach to mental Health panel discussion, main stage  

11:30 a.m. —  CoMingle Mixer: Friendship & Social Wellness, activity tent  

Noon —  Stronger Together: Bridging Health, Wellness and Community panel discussion, main stage  

12:30 p.m. — Healthy cooking demonstration with WVU Extension Family Nutrition, activity tent  

1 p.m. — Strength in Support: Building Community for Postpartum Wellness panel discussion,  

main stage, Fairmont State University Arts Academy student

1:15 p.m. — Dynamic Stretch & Breath: Physical Therapy Stretching, activity tent  

2 p.m. — Securing Tomorrow: Strategies for Family Financial Wellness & Legacy Planning panel discussion, main stage  

2:50 p.m. — Closing/awards ceremony, main stage
