Peggy Bonner

Peggy R. Bonner, 92, of Morgantown, peacefully passed away at Sundale Nursing Home, where she resided for the past five years, on July 5, 2024. 

Peggy was born in Grafton on Dec. 25, 1931, a daughter of the late Floran and Audrey (Phillips) Felton. 

She was a graduate of the University High School class of 1949 and was a member of the band. Peggy attended many class reunions and served on the reunion committee. She was a life member of the Mon Health Auxiliary and served for six years on the auxiliary board. 

Peggy was a member of Highland Park Methodist Church and active in the Ladies of Highland Park Church. She helped to organize their spring and Christmas bazaars. For the Christmas bazaar, which was known for its hard tack and peanut butter crunch candies, Peggy looked forward to Tuesday morning candy making. 

Peggy was employed at Dering Funeral Home from 1985-2008. 

Peggy is survived by her nieces, Diane Taylor (Daniel), of Morgantown, Barbie Johnson (Chris), of Brunswick, Ga., and Linda Sue Brown, of Core, W.Va.; and nephew, David Claudio (Robin), of Fairhope, Ala. She is also survived by a special cousin, Luann Raddish (Dave), of Fairmont, as well as several other nieces and a nephew. 

She was the last surviving sibling in her family. In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Bobby W. Bonner, in 1989. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Betty Cumpston, Emma Lou Claudio, Charlotte Quinn; and her brothers, Ed, George and John Felton; and a special friend she thought of as a son, Frank Matthews. 

Special thanks to the Sundale Nursing Home staff, especially Joan, Caitlyn, Karen, Sue and Billie Jo, who provided excellent care for Peggy. 

Friends will be received at Dering-Henson Funeral Home from 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11 until the service at noon, with the Rev. Charles May presiding. A private family burial will be held at Beverly Hills Memorial Garden.
