Patricia Ann Benson, 97, of Morgantown, passed away at The Village at Heritage Point on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
Pat was born in Fairmont on June 10, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank Farson and the late Rella (Gilmore) Farson.
Pat was a graduate of Fairmont High School and attended Potomac State College before marrying her childhood sweetheart, the late Don Dayton Benson. They had been married for 70 years.
She was a long-standing member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morgantown and a member of the Morgantown Service League. She taught Sunday School at First Presbyterian Church, preschool at Charlotte’s Dance Studio and worked at Farmers and Merchants Bank.
Pat was an avid card player, belonging to two bridge clubs, and enjoyed bowling. She loved to read and was a member of the Ingleside Book Club.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Donna) Benson, of Cleveland; daughters, Sharon (Michael) Broun, of Athens, Ga., and Amy (Riley) Barb, of Canaan Valley, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Broun. of Athens, Ga, Matthew (Emily) Broun, of Atlanta, Ga., Nick (Taylor) Fiorini, of Victor, Idaho, and Catherine (Zach) von Gersdorff, of Canaan Valley, W.Va.; five great-grandchildren, Michael Broun III, Charlotte Broun, Emerson Broun, Collins Broun, Annie Quinn Broun and one on the way; four nieces and seven nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Bill Farson.
Friends and family will be received at the First Presbyterian Church, 456 Spruce St., Morgantown, from noon on Saturday, July 13, until the Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Zac Morton officiating.
