Mark Vavreck

Mark Ethan Vavreck, 42, of Morgantown, passed away on July 1, 2024.

He was born Oct. 21, 1981, in Washington, Pa.

He is survived by his parents, Mark and Lou Ann Vavreck; his grandfather, Albert Vavreck; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and his girlfriend, Mindy.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Patricia Vavreck, Elaine and Frank Oros; and his great-uncle, Bill Jeffries.

Mark’s passions painted the canvas of his life with vibrant colors. He was a car enthusiast, had an ear for music that spanned genres, enjoyed fishing for much of his life and loved to shoot pool while having a drink with his friends. He enjoyed mixed martial arts and was an animal lover. Mark’s gentle side was especially evident when he was with the family dogs, most recently with Milo.

Mark’s most cherished moments were spent with his family and friends, and he recognized the value of time and the memories created.

Although Mark’s time with us was shorter than we had hoped, his impact was profound and long lasting. He lived life on his terms with a generosity of spirit that will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mark will also be remembered as a fighter (in all aspects of the word) and a gentle giant who was always there for his friends when they needed him.

Mark’s journey had many bumps in the road. In his absence, may we find solace in knowing that he was also filled with love, friendship, and gratitude for the simple pleasures in life. He has left us with a reminder of how life is so precious and the importance of cherishing every moment.

As we bid farewell to Mark, we hold tight to the memories that will keep his spirit alive in our hearts. His laughter, his smile, his fierce loyalty and his strong presence will be remembered eternally.

There will be a visitation at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 19 Jo Glen Drive, Morgantown, WV 26508, where Mark’s ashes will be present, at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15.
