Westover woman jailed for malicious assault

A Westover woman was arrested late Monday evening after allegedly slashing a man with a knife during a domestic dispute.

At about 11:22 p.m. July 1, Westover Officer Jackson Rutledge responded to the Dunkard Avenue apartment and separated Frances Juanita Demarbieux, 43, of Westover, from the victim, according to the criminal complaint.

Rutledge said the victim claimed Demarbieux attacked him by throwing a fan at him and slashing him with a knife.

The officer confirmed the victim had minor lacerations across the stomach area and the knife was discovered underneath the bed.

Demarbieux was placed under arrest and charged with malicious or unlawful assault.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Demarbieux remained in custody at North Central Regional Jail on $10,000 bond.
