Richard Wayne Hurley Sr., 80, of Morgantown, passed away at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 20.
Richard was born on Jan. 1, 1944, the son of the late Albert and Ruth Hurley.
Richard was a hard worker and worked as a millwright for the Millwright Local Union 1755. In his free time, Richard enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time on the lake.
Richard never met a stranger and would go out of his way to help others. He liked to travel and spend time with his friends at the local bars. He had the best time racing go-karts with his grandson, Alan. Most importantly, Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at family dinners.
Richard is survived by his significant other of 20 years, Jeanetta “Jan” Mondik; daughter, Dawn (James) Dulaney; son, Richard (Michelle) Hurley; grandson, Alan (Taylor) Hurley; great-granddaughters, Emmy Jane Hurley and Lainey Koe Hurley; brothers, Johnny Hurley and Jim Hurley. He is also survived by his son, George Yatsko; daughter, Doris (Jeff) Craig; Jan’s children, Becky and Brent Lupton; grandchildren he was adopted by, Brenna and Braxton Lupton; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Daisy Yatsko Hurley; son, John Yatsko; grandchildren, Traci Craig, Jeffrey Craig, Erica Yatsko; and niece, Kathy Hurley.
Friends and family will be received at the Mt. Morris American Legion, 319 Mount Morris Road, Mt. Morris, PA 15349, from 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home.
