Maryanne Maxwell Walls passed away peacefully at her home in Reedsville on Monday, June 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Jan. 20, 1959, in Waynesburg, Pa., to James and Helen Maxwell, she brought light and joy into the world that will be greatly missed.
Maryanne graduated from Waynesburg Central High School, where she was known for her keen intellect and warm spirit. Her professional life spanned over four decades at West Virginia University, where she started as an accounting assistant and retired with distinction as a payment manager. Her diligence and dedication to her work were matched only by her kindness toward her colleagues.
A woman of many passions, Maryanne was especially committed to the humane treatment of animals. She supported the rescue efforts of local organizations, ensuring the safety and care of countless creatures in need. Additionally, she and her beloved husband, Michael Walls, shared a love for travel, exploring new places together, and creating a treasury of beautiful memories.
Maryanne is survived by her devoted husband, Michael, who was her partner in all aspects of life and her best friend. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Susan Matthews and her husband, Ed, of Denver, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her presence will be profoundly missed, but the legacy of her gentle, compassionate spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her. Maryanne’s grace, resolve and the love she shared with her family will remain as a testament to a life beautifully lived.
