Mary Ann (Shine) Spina Ayersman, 85, of Pursglove, passed away at Mon Health Medical Center/Select Specialty Hospital in Morgantown Wednesday afternoon, June 26, 2024.
Born Dec. 22, 1938, in Morgantown, Mary Ann was a daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Spak) Shine.
Survivors include her children, Allen R. Ayersman Sr. and wife, Kelly, and Frank Spina Jr., all of Morgantown, and Linda Wiley, of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Emily Ann Randall, of Washington D.C., Allen R. Ayersman Jr. and wife, Leslie, of Fairmont, and Alexx Ayersman, of Morgantown; a sister, Paulette Shine, of Pursglove; as well as her dog, Honey and cat, Gracie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Frances Barrick and Dolores Wilson. Also waiting for her at the end of the Rainbow Bridge were her loving and faithful “girls” Holly, Mocha and Sadie.
Mary Ann was a 1956 graduate of Morgantown High School. She enjoyed growing flowers, gardening and working on crossword puzzles. She was a fan of old western movies and watching reruns of “Gunsmoke.” She was also known to be a great cook — particularly with Slavic food, albeit a little unorthodox at times with her approach.
She will be remembered for all of these things and more, but to her, her family was most important. Oh, how she loved her whole family!
Friends may join the family to honor Mary Ann’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown from 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, until the time of her funeral service at 3 p.m. officiated by Pastor Tom Green. Following the funeral service, Mary Ann’s request for cremation will be honored by her family.
