Lauren Winans’ new single “Rainbows” was released this past week on all streaming platforms.
This is the second single off Winans’ new EP, the “Truth will Set You Free.” The release and music is a collaboration between Winans and the WVU Music Business and Industry Program.
“Rainbows” is Winans favorite.
“I co-wrote this with some really great writers in Nashville before I had my kids and the song means so much more to me now, 12 years later, than it even did back then,” she said.
The song written by Winans, Shanna Crooks-Perez (Demi Lovato), and Marc Beeson (Sam Hunt, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride and others) is a ballad talking about a relationship being beautiful like the rainbow but unable to last.
Returning to her home state, Winans is the host of WBOY’s lifestyle television show 304 TODAY. Her program features lifestyles, culture and music throughout the state and region. She was recently recognized by Gov. Jim Justice for her efforts as a news reporter supporting the arts and lifestyles in
West Virginia.
Winans worked exclusively with the WVU Music Business and Industry Program to bring this EP to life. The MBI program has a working recording session band that works with artists to develop their music. The students in the program get real-world experience working in a recording studio and with artists to develop their skills as musicians.
Winanas is a native of Buckhannon, where she is a mother of two. She is an advocate for abused women and an active member of her church.
