Three people were taken into custody this week following a search conducted by agents with the Mon Metro Drug Task Force at 1443 Statler St. in the Sabraton area of Morgantown.
In May, the task force conducted a controlled purchase using a confidential informant to buy assumed fentanyl and cocaine base from Joann Carmesha Moss, 42, of Detroit, according to criminal complaints.
The two substances purchased from Moss later tested positive for fentanyl and cocaine base (crack cocaine).
On Wednesday, task force agents executed a search warrant at the Statler Street residence as part of an ongoing investigation into drugs being sold from that location.
While searching the inside of the residence, law enforcement located Lance Demarco Harris, 31, and Karl Wesley Dennis, 29, both of Detroit, according to complaints.
Along with the two men, officers allegedly found approximately 60 grams (2.1 ounces) of fentanyl as well as packaging materials, digital scales, and U.S. currency.
Moss was charged with one count of delivery of fentanyl and one count of delivery of cocaine base.
Harris and Dennis were both charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl.
According to the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the bail amount for the trio is $100,000 each.
Fentanyl remains the deadliest drug threat in the nation. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) warns the synthetic opioid is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. Just two milligrams is considered potentially fatal.
