New mental health office opens in Kingwood

KINGWOOD — A new mental health facility opened in Kingwood Tuesday at the Kingwood Plaza. A ribbon cutting for Fremouw, Sigley & Baker Psychological Associates PLLC was held Monday afternoon in front of the office.

Psychologist Edward Baker said he has been in practice for more than 20 years. He said many patients come from Preston County, so for the past couple of years the practice has been looking for space there.

“This seemed like the best space for us,” he said about the plaza. “We already have appointments set up and are moved in.”

The group also has an office at 1445 Stewartstown Road, Suite 200, in Morgantown.

Baker is a clinical and forensic psychologist and does assessments for court. He said the staff doesn’t provide any type of medication, just therapy.

Psychologist Cassandra Connelly is from Preston County and was the 68th Queen Ceres at the Buckwheat Festival. She said Baker asked her if she would like to come back to her home county to work.

“He knew I was from Preston County. I’m a clinical psychologist. I do therapy with individuals, children and adults: also do couples therapy, group therapy and psychological evaluations,” she said. “I’m excited to be back in Preston County and able to give back to the community in this way.”

Kristy Ash, Chamber of Commerce director, said the business is the chamber’s latest member. “We are very excited to welcome them to Preston County,” Ash said. “Practitioners will work with children, adolescents and adults of all backgrounds with a variety of clinical needs. This expansion will allow the practice to meet increasing demands and improve services in the area, to reduce waiting times, provide individual and family therapy and provide forensic and clinical evaluations.”
