Madena “Dena” Brosius, formerly Sawyer, 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 9, 2024.
She was the daughter of the late Judith A. Jones and Curtis H. Jones.
She is survived by her husband of four years, James Brosius; her two daughters, Misty Miller-Glessner (Craig) and Kylie Ashby (Jason); stepson, Tommy Brosius. Dena had eight beautiful grandchildren, Sierra, Elizabeth (Robbie), Hannah, Raylynn, Jackson, Mason, Camden and Devani; and step-granddaughter, Kalla. She was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Miles and Liam. Also surviving are special family friends who were like sisters to her, Shelly, Joann and Pat; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert “Bob” Sawyer.
Dena worked for several years alongside Dr. Hess and with Visiting Homemakers here in Morgantown. She had an unwavering love for her family and a desire to care for others in her community. She enjoyed attending church and made friends instantly wherever she went and considered those friends adopted family. Dena touched so many lives with her loving heart, compassion and patience. She will continue to be loved and missed by so many.
Friends and family are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, and again from 10 a.m. on Friday, June 14, until the time of service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenny Reed officiating. She will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
