Main Street Morgantown celebrates West Virginia’s 161st birthday

Family festival also marks organization’s 40th anniversary

Main Street Morgantown announced the return of the annual West Virginia Birthday Party presented by March Westin, celebrating the state’s 161st birthday, as well as Main Street Morgantown’s 40th year of service to the community.

The family-friendly celebration will take place from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, June 15, along High Street in the heart of historic downtown Morgantown.

This year’s street festival will offer fun for all ages, with attractions including live music, a West Virginia Beer Garden featuring local craft beers and ciders, a Kids’ Zone, food from local restaurants, a Vintage Market and vendors showcasing the work of local artists.

Attendees can also look forward to the celebratory cutting of a birthday cake with friends from West Virginia University.

While admission to the event is free, beer/cider tickets will be available for purchase on the day for $20, which includes a commemorative West Virginia birthday cup and two beer fills, with additional fills available at an extra cost. Cups will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To purchase tickets, go to https://bit.ly/wvbdaybeertickets

The festival’s entertainment lineup promises an exciting mix of local talent, with performances by Ryan Cain & the Ables providing swinging rockabilly beats, singer-songwriter Grace Campbell offering folk tunes and Adrian & the Soul Miners bringing soulful rhythms that are sure to have attendees dancing in the streets.

“Downtown Morgantown is the perfect place to celebrate the 161st birthday of our great state, as well as 40 years of Main Street Morgantown working to preserve and promote our historic downtown district,” said Grace Hutchens, vice president of Main Street Morgantown. “We invite all ages to join us on June 15 for a day filled with West Virginia pride, live music, local food and drinks and plenty of fun.”

The event is just one of over 40 events organized by Main Street Morgantown and its affiliate organizers this year.
