Joseph Summers

Joseph Michael Summers, 64, known affectionately as Mike to his friends and family, departed this world while surrounded by his loving family at Mon General Hospital in the same town where he first began his journey, Morgantown, on June 4, 2024.

He was born on Feb. 24, 1960, to the late Herbert Wesley Summers Jr. and Esther Ruth Satterfield Summers, who survives.

Mike will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Janet Summers; his son, Chad Michael Summers and family; his caring sister, Robyn Warbel (John); his brother, Jason Summers; sister-in-law, Kim Peck (Roger) and brother-in-law, John Bailey; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and the joyous laughter of several nieces, nephews and one cherished great-niece.

He spent many years traversing the nation’s highways as a CDL truck driver, carrying not just goods, but also a spirit of dedication. Mike also worked for Mountain Line Transit Authority until his retirement.

Mike was a man of the outdoors, finding solace in hunting, fishing and reveling in the beauty of nature. His skillful hands built not only a home but also a haven filled with warmth and love.

Friends are invited to gather at McCulla Funeral Home, for visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, and again from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, with Pastor Jeff Stanley officiating. Following the service, Mike will be laid to rest at Pisgah Cemetery in Morgantown.
