Eugene “Allen” Hunt, 75, left his earthly home on May 15, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family and lots of love.
Allen came into this world the third child of Lillian Hunt and Eugene Hunt on March 12, 1949.
Left behind to continue Allen’s legacy are his children, Lisa Hunt Boord, Aimie (Chris) Hunt and Eric “Bo” Hunt; siblings, Jean (Larry) Morgan, Rebecca (John) England and Jeff Hunt; grandchildren, Ian Boord, Mason McDonald, Thomas Boord and Bentley (Benny) Hunt, who was his very best friend.
In addition, Allen leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and cherished friends, including the mother of two of his children, Sue Hunt and sister-in-law, Diana Martin.
Those that went on before Allen are his loving parents, Eugene and Lillian Hunt; siblings, Richard “Rick” Hunt and Mattie Shinkovich; and two precious grandchildren, Tessa Boord and James Hunt Whitener.
Allen graduated University High School in 1969 and was immediately drafted into the U.S. Army the same year where he was more than proud to serve his country in Germany as a mechanic. After returning stateside, he worked over 30 years at Blacksville #2 Mine until his retirement in 2006.
Allen had many joys in his life including bowling, fishing and amassing a huge collection of trophies while playing horseshoes (most of them being first place). One of his greatest passions was camping with his family and friends at Millesons Walnut Grove in Springfield, W.Va. on the South Branch of the Potomac River. He made many memories and many treasured friendships at camp, from his childhood through adulthood.
Allen will be long remembered for his joyous heart, his contagious smile and his immense love for his family.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering at the Westover Senior Center/Westover Park, 500 Dupont Road, Westover, W.Va., at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 28, with military honors conducted by VFW Post 9916.
