Anna Phillips

Anna Lou Phillips, 81, of Terra Alta, passed away at the WV Caring Hospice Center in Elkins with family by her side on Sunday, June 2, 2024.  

Anna will be reunited with the love of her life, Frank, who passed away in Oct. 2022, something she had been looking forward to. 

She was born Oct. 19, 1942, in Cranesville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ray Ernest and Lottie Virginia (Smith) Sypolt. 

Anna worked for Hopemont Hospital for several years before taking on the most important role as a homemaker. She loved to cook for her family and try out new recipes, giving them all her own little twist. She liked to watch her shows and loved all babies. Anna and her husband, Frank, attended the Crellin United Brethren Church. 

She is survived by her son, David Phillips and wife, Stephanie, of Front Royal, Va.; daughter, Tammela Brown and husband, Greg, of Franklin, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Chad (Erica) Brown, Zach Brown, Erica Phillips, Kyle Phillips, Christopher Phillips, Joey (Katie) Neidigh, Matthew (Emily) Neidigh and Kayla Neidigh; eight great-grandchildren, Madi Rae, Lane, Maddux, Elijah, Makenzie, Kolson, Layla and Logan; brother, George Lee Sypolt and wife, Nancy; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Franklin Phillips; four brothers, June Sypolt, Earnest “John” Sypolt, Dale “Woop” Sypolt and Lawrence “Sype” Sypolt; two sisters, Gladys Dillsworth and Bertha Slater. 

Friends may call at the Arthur H Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta from 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, until the 2 p.m. time of service with Pastor Ed Calhoun officiating. Interment will be held in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
