Pauline Taylor

Pauline Adele Taylor, 89, of Masontown, W.Va., passed away at Ruby Memorial Hospital on Sunday, May 26, 2024, with family by her side.  

She was born Feb. 12, 1935, a daughter of the late John Nelson Nuce and Jessie (Nicholson) Nuce.  

Pauline was a graduate of Kingwood High School in 1953. She worked at the telephone company in Bethesda, Md., and in Morgantown, W.Va., until marrying her husband, Pete Taylor, on Sept. 3, 1955, and settling into her role of wife and mother. Later in life, she worked as a CNA and at the Plaza Café in Reedsville.  

Pauline was the last of siblings. Her family was her life, pride and joy. Her home was the neighborhood hangout with all being welcomed. No one ever left with an empty belly. Pauline enjoyed watching and rewatching old movies, working on puzzles, camping, baking for her family and putting all types of jelly on her morning toast. She was an active member of the North Union United Methodist Church until its closing.  

Pauline is survived by two children, Gina Petak and husband, Frank and Eric Taylor; five grandchildren, Marsha Montgomery (William), Tabatha McCormick (Adam), Miranda Taylor-Moats (Damien), Travis Petak (Emily) and Donald Petak; 15 great grandchildren, Monika McCartney (Kyle), Alyssa Montgomery, Ethan Titchenell, Josh Montgomery, Mariah Titchenell, Mattyson Montgomery, Jayden Moats, Logan Montgomery, Jozie Montgomery, Emma Montgomery, Easton McCormick, Emmalee Moats, Braelynn Petak, Walker Petak and Adalee McCormick; one great-great-granddaughter, Madilynn Jo McCartney; and numerous family and friends that she loved and cared deeply about.  

In addition to her parents, Pauline is preceded in death by her loving husband, E. Vance “Pete” Taylor in 1998; son, Arthur Vance Taylor in 1979; four brothers, Lawrence A. Nuce, Clarence B. Nuce, Elmer L. Nuce and Lloyd G. Nuce; three sisters, infant Ruby Nuce, Genevieve Schleigh and Mary Stultz.  

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, W.Va., from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 31, and from 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, until the 11 a.m. time of service with the Rev. Jonathan Nettles officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
