Kenneth N. Owens, known to friends and family as Ken, passed away peacefully in Morgantown on May 14, 2024.
He was born on July 10, 1955, in Fairmont to the late Terry & Karen Fortney Owens.
Ken was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Ken leaves behind his cherished wife of 44 years, Rhonda L. Toothman Owens, and his adored daughter, Amber Owens and her husband, Will, of West Jefferson, N.C. He was the proud grandfather of Ruby, Grace and Claire Owens, who will carry the light of his legacy forward. His brothers, Kevin Owens (Belinda) and Kirby Owens (Christine), along with nephews, Bryant and Chase Owens, will remember Ken as a pillar of strength and humor within the family.
Ken was truly larger than life. He built a respected career working in construction for Consol Coal Mines and dedicated his time to the Clay-Battelle Senior Center, serving as a board member and impactful presence. A man of many interests, Ken frequently attended ball games with his friend, Bird Carnes, epitomizing the very essence of comradery and community spirit.
Those who knew Ken knew that to be in his company was to be in the presence of kindness and laughter. His funny and kind-hearted personality will be deeply missed by a host of extended family members, friends and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. Ken’s memory will be treasured and kept alive through the stories and laughter he left behind.
