Trey Edward Cooley, 19, of Bruceton Mills, was charged with DUI with serious bodily injury after he allegedly drove his vehicle into a home.
According to the criminal complaint filed by State Police Trooper S.R. Wilfong, the accident occurred at 9:58 p.m. Sunday on West Main Street in Bruceton Mills.
Wilfong, responding to a call for a single-vehicle accident, found a silver Hyundai Tuscon halfway through the front wall of the home, with the front of the SUV in the living room.
A woman, who was in the home at the time of the crash, was hit by the vehicle. She was flown to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital by medical helicopter.
During the investigation, Wilfong wrote that he smelled alcohol and noticed Cooley’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. According to the complaint, Cooley told the trooper he had been drinking.
Cooley failed three field sobriety tests. He was still in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Wednesday on a $25,000 bond.
