Get creative with nature

The beauty of nature has long been a source of inspiration for artists and creatives alike. For instance, the stunning landscape of Mountaineer Country is renowned for its Appalachian mountains and vibrant wildflowers, which offer endless opportunities for exploration and artistic expression. Besides our natural wonders, there are plenty of local initiatives and activities that allow you to engage with nature in a more creative and meaningful way. Whether you’re an artist, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking for new experiences, there’s no shortage of ways to connect with the natural world around you.

Flower Garden Tea Party. The Antiquitea House is hosting a fun-filled event at 1 p.m. Saturday where you can learn how to make beautiful stationary cards. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample a variety of flower-based teas and use dried flowers provided by the House to decorate their cards. Each registered attendee can make three cards while enjoying community pots of tea. To reserve your spot, please contact 304-241-5237 and pay the $15 pre-registration fee.

Dancing in Line with Nature. The West Virginia Botanic Garden (WVBG) is organizing a beginner-friendly dance class for 10:30 a.m. May 22. The class will be conducted by instructors Petra Wood and Patricia Nice who will guide the participants through the basics of line dancing. The event is open to everyone, regardless of their experience level. The class will be held on the Education Center deck, providing a serene and natural environment to the participants. The registration fee is $5 for members and $15 for non-members. To register for the class, please visit www.wvbg.org.

Drum circle. Drumming has been linked to healing the body, soul and Earth for a long time. If you’re interested in exploring the therapeutic benefits of drumming, the WVBG is organizing an event at 4 p.m. Sunday. During the event, you will learn about the healing qualities of drumming and get a chance to play various drum and percussion instruments. If you prefer, you can also make your own instrument. The best part? The event is free, and anyone can participate, regardless of age.
