Charles Trembly

Charles Dee “Charlie” Trembly, 87, of Terra Alta, passed away with many loved ones by his side on May 11, 2024, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

The son of the late Charles Edward “C.E.” and Marjorie Crane Trembly, he was born Sept. 13, 1936, in Morgantown, and then brought home to be raised in Terra Alta.

Charles graduated from Terra Alta High School at age 17, in 1954, and then West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in medical technology. He dedicated most of his career to working as a Med Tech at Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood. He cherished his time as a bus driver for Preston County Schools and loved those children as his own.

A man of many talents and interests, Charles was a pilot who loved flying his Piper PA22 tri pacer and owned a small airport in Terra Alta. He was also a National Weather Observer and known for his daily weather reports and quite accurate predictions. His father, C.E., and he collected over 110 years of weather records. Charlie was born with a passion for technology, advancement and science.

Charles was a man of unwavering faith, always putting God first in all aspects of his life. His strong belief in the Lord served as an inspiration to many. He was a devoted husband, father, pap and uncle, well known for his generosity and care towards his family and community.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 37 years, Bertie Trembly; daughter, Gina Renee Trembly Nolte, of Bruceton Mills; son John Charles Trembly and wife Josephine, of Masontown; bonus daughter, Bonnie Loughrie and Todd Deal; bonus sons, Dave Moats, Dale Moats and wife Gloria, all of Terra Alta; grandchildren Madeline Martin, Ephraim and Simon Trembly; bonus grandchildren, Julie Loughrie and Dana “DJ” Loughrie and numerous great-grandchildren whom he loved immensely. He is also survived by nephew, Edward Trembly and wife Betty of Arlington, Mass.; niece, Anna Carter and husband John of New Hampshire; and brother-in-law, Pete Pifer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cristy Ingrid Trembly; brother, Gray Trembly; sister-in-law, Emma Trembly; grandson, John Charles Trembly Jr., much-loved bonus son, Tony Moats; and sister-in-law, Deborah Pifer.

Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and from noon on Thursday May 16, 2024, until the 1 p.m. time of service with Ed Rockwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
