Elizabeth Louise “Betty” Mantini, 96, of Star City, passed away at Harmony of Morgantown on Sunday, May 5, 2024, following a brief illness.
She was born on Feb. 21, 1928, in Pursglove, the daughter of the late Dominick and Ella Claudio.
Betty was a graduate of University High School. In November of 1954, she married Constantine “Connie” Mantini. Together they ran their business, Connie’s Grocery, on Brockway Avenue for 50 years before retiring in 1992.
Betty’s family was an important part of her life. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Connie, for 67 years. She loved spending time with her siblings and their families during the holidays and at summer gatherings. She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Star City.
She is survived by her nieces, Shirley Laurie, of Perry, Ohio, Darlene Claudio and Janice Price, of Morgantown, Diane Taylor (Dan), of Morgantown, Ella Schaefer (Tom), of Titusville, Fla.; and nephews, Kenneth Claudio (Penny), of Morgantown, James Claudio (Paulette), of Barrington, Ill., Albert Claudio Jr., of Morgantown, David Claudio (Robin), of Fairhope, Ala., and Kevin Claudio (Becky), of San Diego, Calif. She is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Constantine Mantini; sisters, Rosalie Price and Gloria Claudio; brothers, Albert Claudio, James Claudio, Harry Claudio and Norman Claudio; and a nephew, Carl N. Price.
Visitation will be at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Star City from 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Harmony and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for the wonderful care given to Betty during her final days.
