Dorothy Jean Malone, 83, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on May 7, 2024, at her home.
Dorothy was born May 31, 1940, to the late Donald and Lillian “Phyliss” Mayfield in Morgantown.
Dorothy married the love of her life, William Keith Malone on May 31, 1958, on her eighteenth birthday. Dorothy was a devoted wife for 64 years to her late husband, and she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Focus on her family encompassed her world.
After her children were raised, Dorothy attended and graduated from Morgantown Beauty School. She was employed at several salons in Morgantown and Steubenville, Ohio.
Dorothy leaves behind three children, Debra Throckmorton (Joseph), Alan Malone (Sandy) and Charles “Chip” Malone (Michelle), all of Morgantown; eight grandchildren, Angela Contic (Mike), Amber Swanger, Matthew Malone (Ashley), Samantha Fairbanks (Tyler), Kady Vost (Evan), Emily, Julie and Conner Malone; six great-grandchildren, Maysa, Araya and Zayd Contic, Hope and Grant Swanger and Riley Yost.
Also surviving are her sister, Barbara Gary, of Morgantown; brother, David Mayfield (Dreama), of Carrollton, Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her late husband, William Keith Malone, on July 4, 2022.
Visitation will be held at McCulla Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 10, and again from 10 a.m. on Saturday until the 11 a.m. service, with Pastor Daniel Strosnider officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Cemetery.
