Mary Lou O’Donnell passed away at Sundale Nursing Home on Saturday, April 20, 2024, with her great-niece, Rachael Fortney and great-great-niece, Gwyneth Paige Fortney by her side.
Mary Lou was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Turtle Creek, Pa., to James Lester McFadden and Nellie Bly Royce McFadden.
Mary Lou worked at Pennhurst Hospital in Spring City, Pa., in the laundry for several years. She loved to dance to The Beach Boys and was an avid singer who knew every song of Patsy Cline, Dean Martin and all classic Christmas songs. She loved to color and play solitaire.
Mary Lou loved her nieces and never missed a chance to tell them how much she loved them, especially
Sam, Gwyneth Paige, Charli Shea and Danni Rease.
Mary Lou is survived by Mary Jane Coulter, Rachael Fortney, Gwyneth Paige Fortney, Charli Shea and Danni Rease Fortney Heiskell; one sister, Betty Jane McFadden Heinemann of Green Tree, Pa.; and five nephews, Jim Matlick, Robert Coulter, Virgil Coulter, David Coulter and Charles Coulter. She is also survived by the Osage Community and numerous friends from the Scotts Run Museum in Osage.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Edward O’Donnell; one nephew, Daniel Thomas Coulter; and four sisters, Martha, Helen, Dorothy and Bess McFadden.
The administration, doctors, nurses and staff at Sundale provided remarkable care for Mary Lou, which was greatly appreciated.
A celebration of life will be held at the Scotts Run Museum in Osage at 2:30 p.m. on May 4.
