Alvie William Blosser, 95, of Martin, Pa., formerly of the Point Marion, Pa. area, died in the Waynesburg Health and Rehab Center on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
Born Sept. 23, 1928, at Kingwood Pike, Morgantown, he was a son of the late William and Blanche (Stafford) Blosser.
Alvie honorably served in the U.S. Army with the rank of sergeant during the Korean conflict. He was a truck driver and retired from the Chess Coal Company in Dilliner, Pa.
Alvie loved life and loved talking to people. In his spare time, he could be found walking in the woods and enjoying nature.
Surviving is his daughter, Debra Zembar and her husband, Robert, of Point Marion, Pa.; a grandson, Robert Alvie Zembar and wife, Amy, of Martin, Pa., where he made his home; and two great-granddaughters, Shelby and Lauren Zembar.
He was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends, with whom he left many wonderful memories.
His wife, Evelyn (Nestor) Blosser passed away in 2002. Also deceased are brother, Ira and Glennis Blosser; and sisters, Freda Walden, Ruby Allen, Jane Nestor and Alberta Fillipovsky.
Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Pa., from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 29. A brief service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Kathy Griffith officiating.
His family would like to thank the staff of Waynesburg Health and Rehab and Amedisys Hospice for the wonderful care given to Alvie during his final illness.
