One person was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Smithtown Road Wednesday evening.
The accident, which involved a box truck going over an embankment, occurred at the intersection of Smithtown Road and Smithtown School Road, forcing the closure of both roads while emergency responders investigated and cleared the scene.
The identity of the victim and what might have caused them to go over the embankment had not been disclosed as of Thursday afternoon.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident but did not have any information available for release at time for this report.
