Arts grants are available for Mon County nonprofits

The Arts Council of Greater Morgantown (ACGM) and Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia Inc. (YCF) announced the application is open for the 2024-25 Organizational Arts Grant program.

Serving the community for more than five years, the mission of the Organizational Arts Grant program is to broaden base support and promote excellence for the arts, ensuring there is a diverse offering of cultural programming available in the community. Since 2018, the program has provided over $1 million to local nonprofit organizations to support arts/cultural programs and projects.

The grant program is made possible through contributions from the City of Morgantown, the Monongalia County Commission and the Douglas H. Tanner Memorial Fund for the Arts. Funds from other sources may also be granted through this process.

“A lot is happening in our arts community since we crossed the $1 million giving mark last year with this grant program,” said Lisa Giuliani, chair of the Organizational Arts Grant review committee. “Community arts are more important than ever, and we are beyond excited to offer this amazing opportunity for our arts organizations and we encourage every arts organization to apply.”

Funding is available for 501(c)(3) organizations located within — and serving — Monongalia County, that have an arts-based mission or are offering an arts-based project. In 2023, nine organizations were awarded for a total of $142,320.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on June 3, when they will then undergo a thorough review from the Organizational Arts Grant committee. An awards ceremony to distribute the funds will be hosted in August.
