One dead following Cheat Lake shooting incident

One woman is dead following a shooting incident on Falling Water Lane the evening of April 19. 

According to a press release authorized by Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer, deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m. 

Crews from Mon EMS, Brookhaven Volunteer Fire Department and Cheat Lake Volunteer Fire Department also responded to assist with the emergency call. 

On the scene, responders found a female victim with an apparent fatal gunshot wound. The female, whose identity has not been made available, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Detectives with the sheriff’s department responded to the scene to investigate, but as of Monday afternoon, department officials said no further information is being released at this time. 

Palmer has not released the names of any individuals believed to be involved. It was unknown Monday if any charges are expected to be filed. 

Palmer also did not release information on any suspects, how many times and where the woman was shot or what type of weapon was involved.
