James Ellis Fisher, of Morgantown, passed away at his home on April 18, 2024.
James was born in Morgantown on July 16, 1963, a son of Harold Fisher, of Morgantown, and the late Frances Balaban Fisher.
James was a carpenter, tinkerer, mechanic, electrician, plumber, business owner and HVAC tech. He was a craftsman in every sense of the word. His work ethic and dedication to quality left a lasting impression on his colleagues. James spent the last decade as the maintenance man of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house. His jack of all trade’s ability kept a 100-year-old structure in top condition.
A man of many interests, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. His happiest moments were those spent “ramping” with grandchildren, riding four wheelers with friends, hunting trips to Wyoming and tinkering on a never-ending number of repair projects, a testament to his love for creating and fixing.
James was always willing to help others, no matter how monumental the task. Like the years of attention and care he put into working with and teaching his son as they renovated a historic home on Grand Street in South Park. Above all, James cherished the time spent with his beloved family.
In addition to his father, James is survived by his son, James Robert Fisher (Christine); his sisters, Christine Frances Breedlove (Earl) and Cindy Ann Areford; his brother, John Ralph Phillips Jr. (Barbara); his adoring grandchildren, James Phillip Fisher and Reed Franklin Fisher; mother of his son and lifelong friend, Cythina Duda-Fisher; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. James also leaves behind his loyal feline companion, Wilbur.
In addition to his mother, James was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Dale Fisher Jr.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 23, from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
