John Bernosky, 89, of Mount Morris, Pa., passed away at home at 10:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
He was born June 12, 1934, in Osage, a son of the late John Mozelevky and Alexandria Kiebye Mozelevky.
He was a member of the James T. Maxon American Legion Post #992 of Mount Morris, Pa. John honorably served as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. After getting out of the Air Force, John started working at American Airlines as a jet mechanic. While working there, he met the love of his life, Marilyn Pfautsch, whom he married in 1962 in Missouri. After leaving Missouri, they lived in Alaska for a time and then moved back to Mount Morris, Pa., to raise a family. He worked as a coal miner for Emerald Mine for 32 years. While there at Emerald, he developed two patents to improve productivity at the mine. This is when he started his own business, making products for the mines for 30 years. He loved working in his shop with his family-run business, employing his children and grandchildren over the years. He made products for various coal mines.
He loved woodworking and planting several different types of trees. Walnut trees were definitely one of his favorites. Mr. Bernosky loved his Canadian geese too. John loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always trying to make things better for his family.
His wife, Marilyn Pfautsch Bernosky, survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Helen and husband, Tim Snyder, of Mount Morris, Pa., and Claire Campbell, of Georgia; two sons, John and wife, Christine Bernosky, of Mount Morris, Pa., and Daniel and wife, Beth Bernosky, of Mt. Morris, Pa.; four grandchildren, Codie Snyder, Jeremiah Snyder, John S. Bernosky and Janelle Bernosky; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are one daughter, Mari Bernosky; one grandson, Lance Corporal Joshua Snyder; two sisters, Helen and Ida; and two brothers, Walter and Charlie.
There will be visitation in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., 324 Mount Morris Road, Mount Morris, PA, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024. Services will also be held at the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, with burial to follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown. Graveside military rites to be accorded by the James T. Maxon American Legion Post #992 and active members of the U.S. Air Force.
