Wade B. Stoughton, M.D., 78, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Ruby Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born April 10, 1945, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Francis Arthur and Jean (Wade) Stoughton.
He was an active member of the Greater Love Family Outreach Ministry. He attended Shadyside Academy and Case Western Reserve; Penn State University and West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in urology at WVU Medicine, then spent two years at Ft. Campbell serving his country in the United States Army. He then entered into private practice in Morgantown until his retirement in 2007, where he saved many lives and served his community.
He started his family in Morgantown with Rae Gilmore Stoughton, the mother of both his children, Sean and Emily.
In his free time, Wade enjoyed anything outdoors. His favorite hobbies included hiking, biking, riding motorcycles, target shooting and grilling. Most especially, he loved spending time with his family and will be remembered as a gentle and kind man.
Wade is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jeanne L. Stoughton; children, Sean Stoughton and his wife, Leslie, Emily Jean Stoughton Kurth and her husband, Rob; stepson, Matt Cindric, M.D.; and grandchildren, Caroline, Robby, Jack, Tommy, Adam and Evan.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation services will be provided.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV 26505, from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10. Visitation will continue at Greater Love Family Outreach Ministry, 200 Frederick Lane, Morgantown, WV 26508, from 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 11 until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Junius Lewis officiating.
