Main Street Morgantown has planned 40 downtown events with the kick-off of its 2024 events season starting in April.
Since 1984, Main Street Morgantown has been dedicated to the development and promotion of a vibrant and prosperous downtown district.
To accompany its milestone year, Main Street Morgantown will also unveil its 40th anniversary logo.
The 2024 events season starts in April with a mix of new and beloved events. New this year is the West Virginia Cupcake & Craft Beer Festival, a downtown street festival where gourmet cupcakes meet locally brewed craft beer in perfect harmony.
Other April events include StoryFest by Morgantown Public Library System, International Street Festival by WVU Office of Global Affairs and Spring Handmade Market by Mon River Trails Conservancy. Spring Arts Walk will return to High Street May 4.
Among the 2024 highlights are West Virginia Birthday Party in June, Hops on the Mon in October, an array of street festivals, cruise-ins, vendor events, merchant mixers and holiday celebrations.
A new year-round program, First Fridays for the Arts by Arts Council of Morgantown, will celebrate creativity and culture as a multi-venue arts showcase.
With the city’s recent establishment of the downtown PODA program, the public can look forward to casual “sip and stroll” type events in the Downtown and Wharf Districts in May.
Main Street Morgantown’s full events roster is possible with the help of hardworking coordinators, volunteers and through the expansion of its affiliate events programming. The affiliate program extends events expertise to grow a network of emergent organizers promoting vibrant events and foot traffic in the district. To aid the success, Main Street Morgantown offers support in marketing and communications, service coordination and equipment loans. During last year’s program pilot, Main Street Morgantown and its affiliates contributed to 35 events in 2023.
Established in 1984, Main Street Morgantown has been dedicated to economic vitality of Morgantown’s historic commercial core. A nationally accredited program, Main Street Morgantown leads a safe, welcoming and attractive district for businesses, residents and visitors. Its programs encourage growth and prosperity among current and prospective businesses within the district, thoughtful revitalization and collaborative partnering toward a thriving business community.
