Ida Jewell Taylor, 90, of Masontown, received her heavenly wings on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 27, 1933, in Fort Grande, a daughter of the late Claude Mae Hitchcock and Elizabeth Ann (Howell) Hitchcock.
Ida was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was an original Arthurdale Homesteader. Ida was protestant by faith and a true follower of Christ. She attended the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Ida was a member of Country Homemakers and loved to read, work puzzles, and crochet. At the age of 55 years old, she became a certified nurse’s aide working at Sundale Nursing Home from 1989-97 as a CNA and Rehabilitation Assistant.
Ida is survived by her devoted husband of 75 years, Claude Young Taylor; one daughter, Claudette Frantz and husband Gary Fike; one son, Jeffrey Scott Taylor and her “Little Earth Angel,” Wendy Marie Taylor; son-in-law, Ed Craft; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ida is preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Elaine Craft, nine sisters, and five brothers.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Schwarzenberg, Mon General, Mon General Oncology and Dr. Littles and his Radiation Oncology Staff for the loving care and compassion shown to Ida and her family during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local animal shelter in Ida’s memory.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, and on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 4528 Herring Rd, Masontown, from noon until the 1 p.m. time of service with Rev. Mike Harriman officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
