Dianna Lee Willard, 77, of Cheat Neck, Morgantown, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Dianna was born in Morgantown to the late Lester W. Shultz and Viola Walker Shultz on Sept. 17, 1946.
In her younger years she attended the Virginia School of Dance and performed in many recitals. She was a 1964 graduate of University High School in Morgantown, where she proudly served as the head drum majorette of the Hilltopper’s Band. Dianna continued her education and graduated from the Morgantown Business College. Dianna worked as a secretary for Consolidated Coal Co. and then moved on as an administrative assistant for the Monongalia County Board of Education for 20 years, from where she retired.
Di, as she was commonly known by many, was a member of the Cheat Lake United Methodist Church, where she joyfully played the piano and worked with the youth. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dianna enjoyed spending time with family, including her two grandchildren and great-grandson of whom she was so proud and loved dearly. She also enjoyed camping at Big Bear Lake and in Elkins.
Di enjoyed dancing the night away at local venues. Myrtle Beach was her favorite get away, where she spent many summer days with her husband and her close group of friends.
Dianna is survived by her husband of 58 years and the love of her life, Jim Willard; daughter, Tammy and husband Tim Snider; grandson, Jacob Snider and his girlfriend Hannah Dalton; granddaughter, Jordyn Snider, to whom she referred to as her “Baby Doll”; great-grandson, Koen James Snider, who was her little blessing. Also surviving is her brother, Lester T. “Butch” Shultz and wife Cynthia; 13 nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dianna was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lester T. and Pauline Miles Shultz, and Alonzo and Tressi Shaffer Walker.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Monday, March 25, from 4 until 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 26 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery, Sunset Beach Road, in the Community of Cheat Lake.
