Robert Bruce “Bob” Carpenter, Sr., 90, of Masontown, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born in Hummelstown, Pa., on Dec. 3, 1933, a son of the late Ray Luther and Hilda M. (Shirk) Carpenter.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He owned and operated Carpenter Excavating and Grading with his sons and also operated Carpenter’s Dairy Farm. Bob enjoyed the outdoors, especially farming with his sons and grandchildren. He also enjoyed sitting on the porch with his friends. He liked going to farm shows, equipment auctions, going on cruises and going out to dinner. Bob was always willing to help his neighbors and had an answer to every question.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Jo (Gregg) Carpenter; one son, Robert “Bobby” Carpenter, Jr.; one daughter, Debra Clark; his grandchildren, Hunter, Heather, and Cara Carpenter, Shane, Matthew, Sean, Kate, and Stephanie; several great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Robin Carpenter.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sons, Harold and Steven Ray Carpenter; twin brother, Ronald Clair Carpenter and brother, Gordon Carpenter.
Friends and family may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Liturgy outside of mass will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 25, at 10 a.m. with Father Dominic Athishu as celebrant. Interment will be in Masontown Cemetery.
