Nancy Loughry West, 87, of Morgantown, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on March 1, 2024, at her home.
Nancy was a devoted wife and mother. She was the rock of the family, who through her quiet strength, guided and nurtured her husband and four children. She had a love of gardening and nature and was always there to help others. Her Christian faith was her foundation and strength. She was a long-time member of Living by Faith Church and spent many years volunteering for Christian Help and Meals on Wheels.
Nancy was born Sept. 5, 1936, to Thomas and Rosie (McVicker) Loughry in Rowlesburg. After her graduation from Rowlesburg High in 1954, she attended business college in Fairmont. It was then that she met and married the love of her life, Doyle West in 1957. After several years devoted to raising her family, she worked side by side with Doyle to start a new business, West Electric, at their home on Tyrone Road. She was the guiding force there until her retirement in 2003.
Nancy is survived by three of her four children, Jené Row and husband Verl, Robin Barnett and husband Dave and Willis “Bud” West and wife Juliette; son-in-law, Tom Barsody; grandchildren, Jessica Heavner Lewis (Bryon), Nic Row, Jobey and Sam West, Tess and Trent Barsody and James and Ben Barnett; great-grandchildren, Lily and David Lewis, and Temperance and Holden Row. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia (William) Goff; sister-in-law, Orpha Loughry; along with several nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband and parents; her daughter, Suzanne Barsody; brother, James Loughry; granddaughter, Laura Row; nephews, Thom Loughry and David Goff.
Honoring Nancy’s wishes, cremation is being provided by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. The family will hold a private memorial and Nancy will be buried at Halleck Cemetery. Donations in Nancy’s memory can be made to Christian Help, Morgantown Area Meals on Wheels, or the charity of your choice.
