WVU is technically a week behind for this year’s Ramadan — the month-long observance of charity and prayer, and fasting and feasts, that began Sunday night for Muslims around the globe.
But that’s only because the first week of the observance here is also coinciding for spring break at the university.
Students in the Muslim community returning to campus after break next weekend will be presented with a number of meal options respectful to the holiday, WVU Dining Services said.
From this coming Sunday through April 9, meals will provided after sunset and before sunrise for students with a dining plan observing Ramadan this year.
Dining Services will offer both to-go dinners and breakfast boxes at specific locations, via online request forms through student email accounts.
Students will begin receiving ordering instructions Friday, Dining Services said.
The request form also contains weekly menus for the viewing, along with specific fields enabling students to order meals several days at a time — while also noting any specific dietary restrictions they may have.
Café Evansdale, Hatfields and Summit Café, the university’s three principal dining halls, will stay open until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and through 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday during Ramadan.
In the Mountainlair, Chick-fil-A will be open until 9 p.m. throughout the observance.
Also in the ‘Lair, Grab & Go, Panda Express and Which ‘Wich will also serve food until 9 p.m.
Same for the Market @ UPlace, which will close at 9 p.m. Monday through Friday during Ramadan.
The Lyon’s Den, meanwhile, will be open 1 a.m. Monday through Sunday.
Look for most dining locations across WVU to officially reopen Monday after break, the university said.
