David Frank Porter, of Cheat Neck, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2024, at Mon Health Medical Center at the age of 70. David was born Jan. 23, 1954, to the late Frank ‘June’ and Mildred Porter.
He was a 1973 graduate of University High School in Morgantown. He was employed for 47 years with Industrial Resources, Fairmont.
David married Shelia Ridgway Porter on April 5, 1975. Together, they raised two sons, Dr. David Bruce Porter (Harshad) of Hamden, Conn., and Derek Robert Porter (Beth) of Morgantown; two grandsons, whom he adored, Gavin Robert Porter and Cooper Michael Porter.
Also surviving are his brothers, Dexter Wayne Porter (Dickie Lee), and Donald William Porter (Charlene); and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. His father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Jane Ridgway will also cherish the memories made over the years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Porter.
Friends and family will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, March 9. Funeral services will immediately follow. A private interment will take place at the Fairview Cemetery, Pisgah Community.
