Roszenna “Rose” Haislet passed away in hospice care on March 3, after a long struggle with chronic pain. She was 77 years old. Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Ernest Owen McGlone and Mabel Alice Gray McGlone, she pursued a career in food service.
In addition to being a wonderful cook, Rose was a voracious reader, an animal lover, an avid fan of baseball and football, and a steadfast believer in education and lifelong learning. But her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.
Rose is survived by her three children, Jascenna Haislet, Tereasa (Lyle) Atkinson, and Jason (Michelle) Haislet; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Teresa (Clyde) Greathouse and Beverly Entler; her beloved Sunny; numerous nieces and nephews; and members of the Deel family. She was preceded in death by her soulmate, Jimmie Deel; her parents; sister Sally; and brothers Jim, Carl, and Gene.
A celebration of life will be held in June in Wheelersburg, Ohio, for family and friends. She will then be interred with Jimmie Deel on a mountaintop in Virginia. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia, P.O. Box 1090, Dellslow, WV 26531, or a no-kill animal shelter of your choice.
