Ronald Lee Smyth, 73, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday evening, Feb. 28, 2024, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Sept. 20, 1950, in Morgantown, a son of the late Minor and Hallie Vannoy Smyth.
Survivors include his children, Pamela McCauley and husband Jay of Grafton, Jennifer Smyth and husband Scott Eickleberry of Grafton, Ronald L. Smyth, II and wife Erin of Baltimore, Md., Dawn Brock of Morgantown, Bonnie C. Wynn and husband Scott of Ogden, Utah; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one yet to be born; and his sister, and Janet Fagula of Morgantown.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his siblings, Doris Remley, June Straight, Sonny Smyth, and Curtis Smith; and his son-in-law John Brock. Waiting for him just over the Rainbow Bridge were his cat, Smoky, and his dog, Rocky.
Ronnie was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved NASCAR and sports in general, and was a die hard WVU Mountaineer fan.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. Ronnie loved his dogs, and everyone else’s dogs for the fact!
Friends may join the family to honor Ronnie’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, March 4, and again on Tuesday, March 5, from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment with full military honors accorded at the graveside will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Morgantown.
