Leota Claypole

Leota L. Claypole, age 83, passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2024, in Morgantown, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 2, 1940, in Osage, Leota was a lifelong resident of West Virginia, a beloved mother, and a cherished grandmother.

Leota was the loving wife of Eugene Claypole, and a devoted mother to her children, including Sandy Claypole, who preceded her in death, Deborah Weaver and Randy, Michelle Claypole, Linda Claypole who left this world as an infant, Eugene Claypole Jr., who preceded her in death, David Claypole and Rita, and one daughter-in-law, Layonna Claypole. Also surviving are two siblings, Dixie Sapp and Charles
Wilson.

Leota was preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Kenyon, Carol Walbrown, William Wilson, Clyde Wilson, Gary Wilson, and Frank Wilson. The legacy of her kind and friendly spirit will live on through her numerous grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, Sara, Maria, Raven, Aerian, Destin, Tyler, Alexus, Izaiah, Chelsea, Blake, Trustyn, Bryant, Nicholas, Ben, and Angela, who predeceased her, as well as through her cherished great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Leota dedicated her time and love to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. Her role as a homemaker was one she approached with joy and diligence, ensuring that everyone who entered her home felt the warmth of her love and kindness.

Leota’s friendly demeanor was not limited to her household; it extended into the community where she leaves behind many friends who were touched by her generous spirit. She had a passion for shopping, a penchant for taking scenic road trips that showcased her adventurous spirit, and an immense love for her dog, Bear, who was her loyal companion.

McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation service and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
